History

Academy Little League's home complex - The Fields at Focus - opened in April 2005.  The picturesque complex is a partnership between Focus on the Family, the City of Colorado Springs, and Academy Little League.  Located on the Southeast corner of Focus on the Family campus, the complex has two 60' diamonds (210' at LF, CF, and RF),  natural grass (Sports Turf blend), concrete sunken dugouts, a 12' x 40' batters eye, and a 5' x 16' electronic scoreboard.

During its innaugural season in 2005, the Fields at Focus were the host site for the 11/12 Year Old All Star District 5 Tournament and the 9/10 Year Old All Star State Tournament.

Future

Future plans (pending funding) for the Fields at Focus include landscaping the perimeter areas, and adding a two-story building that will include a concession stand with restrooms, storage facility, and meeting room.

Diamond Notes

For Field Maintenance instructions for the Fields at Focus, click here.

We need your help to keep our fields safe and in first-class condition:

  • NO PARKING by the fields; use the parking lot to the west of the west field.  Only authorized vehicles (maintenance, equipment, concessions) will be allowed by the fields.  This is a major safety concern that everyone must follow/help enforce.

  • NO SMOKING by the fields; have parents/fans use the parking lot to the west of the west field.

  • Clean the dugouts after your game/practice; if trash cans in the dugouts or by the backstops are full, empty them and leave them behind the dugouts outside the fence.  Trash bags can be obtained from the concession stand.

  • Do not climb on or over the fences/gates at anytime.  Gates will be unlocked 1 hour prior to the first games of the day.

  • No gum inside the fences/dugouts.

  • No sunflower seeds on the field; dugouts are OK (this includes coaches).

  • No players standing along fence in dugouts or in opening closest to home plate during games.

  • There are no distinctions between HOME and VISITOR where field maintenance is concerned. EVERYONE is required to help before and after every game; refer to the field maintenance instructions under the Coaches Corner tab for detailed instructions.

  • Hose carts, rakes, drags, brooms in/around the dugouts should be used to accomplish maintenance.  Items can be temporarily stored outside/behind the dugouts during games, and returned inside following your game/practice.

  • Chalkers are by the maintenance shed.  Do not chalk OF lines (these are painted by field maintenance crews).  Be careful not to over-chalk the IF areas (foul lines and batters box).

  • Drag and water (lightly) skinned areas (IF, batters box, pitching mound, base-paths) before and after games/practice.

  • Water (heavy) IF grass, behind home plate, and in front of dugouts after games/practice if you are last game/practice of the day.
